Three Must Try DIY Brightening Hair Masks

Now that the weather is warming up, I am so ready for summer! Even if it isn’t quite here, I can pretend that it is by starting to bring back my summer wardrobe and tanning. Another great way to put yourself into a summer mentality is to use one of these DIY hair mask graphicbrightening hair treatments to achieve a lighter hair color that will make it look like you’ve spent a week on the beach.

Cinnamon and Honey Mask

  1. 1 Tbsp coconut oil
  2. 1 Tbsp raw honey
  3. 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  4. Optional: 10 drops essential oil

First, mix cinnamon with honey and let sit for one hour. Then combine all ingredients thoroughly. Apply to hair completely and wait for 30 minutes. Wash out entirely and style. 

Chamomile Tea Mask

  1. 4 chamomile tea bags
  2. 2 tbsp plain yogurt

Steam tea bags for fifteen minutes. Mix with yogurt. Apply for 1-2 hours or longer for darker hair. Rinse and wash out.

Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide Mask

  1. 1 cup of baking soda 
  2. 3 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide

Mix and apply to hair for 30-60 min. Do not leave on for longer than 60 minutes.

Any of these homemade brightening hair masks are an easy way to change up your look for the warm weather. They are also so much more affordable than going to the salon.
