Mascara is the ultimate go-to cosmetics product for most women. If you’re only going to wear one makeup product, mascara will give you the most bang for your buck. If you are still wondering if there is a better formula out there than the one you’re currently using, consider giving one of two of these free mascara samples a whirl. You may very well find a mascara that’ll send your old one packing.
If you aren’t sure which type of mascara is best, keep reading. We’ve created this break down of the various mascara formulas to help you find the one that will be the best fit for your lash needs.
Lengthening – Lengthening mascaras will accentuate the length of your lashes, but may not add thickness to each lash. These formulas are best for those who already have pretty full or dense lashes. A lengthening formula will give you that extra length while maintaining the fullness you are lucky enough to already possess.
Curling – Some girls have naturally curly lashes while others of us have lashes that stick straight out. Of course, you can always curl your lashes with a heated or non-heated lash curler, but it does take extra time and effort. If you want to add a little bit of curl to your lashes without the extra hassle, a curling mascara formula is for you. Usually, these mascaras have a curled brush which gently curls your lashes as it coats them in mascara.
Volumizing – This mascara formula focuses mainly on adding umph to your lashes by way of thickness and density. They may also add some length, but they will mainly make each individual lash plumper than it would be without mascara. Unlike lengthening formulas, the goal of these types of mascara formulas is to ramp up the existing lashes to give the illusion of thicker fuller lashes.
Color or Tinted – Colored mascaras are great if you’re looking to change up your boring day to day look. Unlike your typical brown or black mascara, a dark purple or blue can create a little color accent which can play up your eye color or complement your eye makeup. These formulas are best for evening or special occasion looks.
Defining – A defining mascara formula is excellent for those with naturally beautiful lashes. If yours are already quite long and pretty full, a defining mascara will simply ensure the lashes don’t get stuck together. This mascara type focuses on keeping each lash separate and defined, all while eliminating clumps. If you hate clumps or you tend to get clumps with your current mascara, give a defining formula a shot.
