Aveeno’s Skin Relief Moisture Repair Cream is a jar of moisturizer that is supposed to offer more intense hydration than the everyday lotions in Aveeno’s Active Naturals line.
I’m a big fan of their Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion, and so I had high hopes that this product would be another hit.
It’s a decent moisturizer, but I have to say I didn’t think it was anything special. This cream is more expensive than their other lotions, but doesn’t really offer anything extra. It does moisturize, but I actually thought their regular Daily Moisturizing Lotion did a much better job of hydrating my skin.
As I mentioned above, this cream comes in a jar. Based on the packaging, I figured the texture of this cream would be thicker than a regular lotion, but not quite as dense as a true body butter. I was wrong. It’s pretty much the same consistency as a regular lotion, aside from an ever so slightly more ‘see through’ or gel-like look. It’s easily liquidy enough to just come in a pump. The jar makes it a little annoying to use and I would much rather have this in a pump or a tube.
Aveeno does have a Skin Relief Overnight Cream (review coming soon!) that comes in a tube. The overnight cream is much thicker and offers much more hydration when it comes to dry skin relief. I loved the overnight cream and so I would definitely give that a try before you shell out any money for this Moisture Repair Cream.
I only gave this two and a half stars – not because it’s a terrible product, but because it doesn’t bring much to the table. It’s more expensive than other products that do a better job.
It runs about $10 or so for an 11 oz. jar at a store like Target or Walmart. It will be a couple dollars more at smaller retailers.
